Administrator: Salary 25-28K per annum (pro rata)

Based Bradfield, near Reading

Are you looking for a busy, varied and rewarding role working for a local charitable trust?

The John Simonds Trust, based at Rushall Manor Farm is looking for an administrator who also has a love and understanding of the countryside, and preferably, farming. The role is based on the organic farm, in a beautiful rural setting. You’ll get to work with our amazing team of teaching staff enabling you and them to make a difference to the lives of the many young people who come here.

We are an educational charity whose work is directed towards young people. As well as teaching about the countryside and farming, we passionately believe that time spent here can make a difference to their lives. So whether it is day visits, school camps, D of E, group or family camps, functions in our historic barn, volunteer work parties or open days, it all happens here. For further information see:

About the job

It’s a varied role, we’ll need you to juggle lots:

  • Responsible to the Managing Trustee
  • Coordinating all bookings for school visits, activities and venue hire
  • All communication with schools, groups and for venue bookings
  • Scheduling timetables with schools and our teaching staff
  • Staff/Volunteer rotas. Present data for payroll
  • Health & Safety paperwork
  • Book keeping – Invoicing and paying bills
  • Collating and reporting on feedback from staff and user groups
  • Networking with other organisations
  • Organising staff training as required
  • Update website and other marketing activities
  • Project work – help to get us organised, overhaul and automate processes
  • Provide financial and educational reports for trustees and treasurer as required

We need

  • We need someone super organised with experience in a busy admin role
  • Happy working on their own, but excellent interpersonal skills
  • Basic book keeping and invoicing experience
  • Evidence that you can meet deadlines, and know how to prioritise
  • We need you to think on feet and deal with problems quickly
  • Good IT and communication skills are required
  • Flexibility – it really is a varied role, so needs adaptability
  • Proven love of some aspect of the countryside

Other Information

  • Working hours ideally 9.00 – 3.00 across 5 days but we can be flexible.
  • Salary 25-28K per annum (pro rata, depending on hours)
  • Rural location – you will need your own transport
  • Subject to enhanced DBS check due to the nature of our work
  • School term time is busy for us, so we need you to take holiday during school holidays.
