Camping for schools

Both Primary & Secondary Schools visit Rushall Farm for residential trips under canvas. The tents are provided and erecting tents and striking camp is an important aspect of the camp.

The length of stay is entirely up to the school, most choose to stay for either two or three nights but one and four nights can be catered for. The programme of activities is organised by the school in consultation with the farm education officer.

Most camps will include sheep herding, bivouac building (both team building activities), river dipping, swimming (at Bradfield College), pond dipping, a woodland mini-beast hunt, BBQ and a camp fire. The activities are mostly led by trained Rushall Farm staff.

In addition to the activities we provide it is also possible to hire in outside education providers for other activities such as a bird of prey talk / flying a Harris Hawk, archery, canoeing, a mobile climbing wall, swimming at Bradfield College & even a wolf walk at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust.

The cost of camping at Rushall Manor is £5.50 per child per night and the cost of the camp as a whole depends on the numbers of night staying, Rushall farm staff involvement and whether any extra activities by outside providers are required. The Education Officer can book these extra activities and add them to the invoice sent to the school.

The schools book their own coach and organise their own food. Most schools opt to book a supermarket delivery online for arrival a day before the camp or on the first day.
